PEACE CAMP: The Shannon peace camp is set to be re-established in Shannon airport tomorrow as part of the nationwide protest against Iraq war.
The camp was disbanded last month after two successive attacks by anti-war activists on a US navy aircraft at Shannon. Aer Rianta secured a High Court injunction preventing the camp from setting up on lands adjacent to the airport's entrance.
However, Mr Ed Horgan of the Peace and Neutrality Alliance said that members of the Tralee Anti-War Alliance are to establish a 24-hour camp at the airport tomorrow and other groups would continue to operate it.
"It is being re-established to bear witness to what is going on at Shannon and I would be confident of support from other groups around the country to keep the camp going," said Mr Horgan.
The reactivation of the camp comes as security around the airport has been stepped up in response to the start of the war.
