Shell E&P Ireland Ltd has confirmed it will meet with the Government-appointed Corrib gas pipeline mediator Mr Peter Cassells tomorrow.

News of the meeting comes after Mr Cassells met with the five men jailed for 94 days last year for contempt of a court order over their opposition to the construction of the Corrib gas line across their lands in Co Mayo.

A statement issued after today's meeting indicated the men were prepared to enter talks with Shell and to continue with the mediation process.

However, the statement said the Rossport five had asked the mediator "to obtain clarification from Shell that it will seriously consider all developments concept and routes for the Corrib project."
