Hundreds take part in Tallaght water protest

Protesters hold demonstration over spate of arrests related to Tánaiste's Jobstown visit

A protest outside Tallaght Garda station in Dublin, involving hundreds of people passed off without incident on Saturday.

The demonstration followed multiple arrests last week over a recent protest in Jobstown in November during which Tánaiste Joan Burton was trapped in her car for a number of hours, and the broader issue of water charges.

Three groups of about 400 to 500 people in total met in separate parts of the town and converged on the Garda station where they remained for about an hour.

It followed numerous smaller demonstrations at the same location and others as the campaign against the charges continues.
