Two brothers were killed in a two-car collision near Midleton, Co Cork, on Wednesday evening. Paul Kirby (20) and his brother David (18) died when their car was in collision with another car being driven by a middle-aged man on the Cloyne Road at Ballinacurra.
The accident happened as the brothers were returning to their home at the Avoncore Estate in Midleton. The mayor of Midleton, Ted Murphy, said: "It's very, very sad for the family, and very rough on them and on the town given all that's already happened here this year." The driver of the second car was taken to Cork University Hospital with chest injuries.
