Two youths have appeared in court in connection with a knife attack in Cork early yesterday morning in which a man was stabbed ten times.

Jack Healy (18) from Dominic Street, Cork and Patrick Tobin (19) from George's Quay, Cork were both charged with assault causing harm to Damian Wilkonski, a 23-year-old Polish national, at Popes Quay, Cork on January 23rd.

They were brought before a special sitting of Cork District Court yesterday afternoon where gardaí gave evidence of arrest charge and caution.

Judge Con O'Leary remanded Mr Healy on bail to appear in court again on Tuesday. He also ordered him to sign on three times a week at his local Garda station.

He remanded Mr Tobin in custody to appear in court on the same day, when he said he would address the issue of a bail surety.
