The Union of Students in Ireland must become more effective and responsive to the needs of ordinary students, the UCD Students' Union said yesterday.
In a statement the UCD union, the largest in the State, said USI is increasingly seen as "inefficient and aloof".
"There is clearly a need for a national union to represent third level students but if students cannot identify with the union or its officers, then reform is urgently required", said Mr Loughlin Deegan, president of the UCD union.
