THERE IS a record number of entries for this year’s Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, with student projects coming from all 32 counties.

Details of student participation in what ranks as one of the largest and longest-running science fairs in the world were released yesterday by main sponsors BT.

A total of 1,588 student projects was entered for the event in the four categories: technology; chemical, physical and mathematical sciences; biological and ecological sciences; and social and behavioural sciences.

These will be reduced to just 520 by the time the exhibition gets under way next January, this itself a record number of projects on display at the RDS, Dublin.
