Belarus border crisis

Sir, – When future generations reflect on the fortification of the European Union against refugees and migrants, hopefully they will be reassured (partly by letters to the press such as this) that there were people opposed to the inhumanity of the EU as a whole and to all its member states in their treatment of these desperate people.

Regarding the current Belarus border crisis, the manipulation by Lukashenko of refugees and migrants at EU borders does not justify the militarised response by the affected governments against those trying to gain admittance to the EU.

Let them in.
