Sir, – Further to John Cuffe's letter (February 1st), while I can understand his angst, my suggestion to avoid a recurrence of sitting in a seat somebody else has booked is simply to look up. Having booked seats on a number of occasions (on the Galway service, incidentally) I have invariably found names clearly displayed electronically above the booked seats. When technology failed, a notice was placed on the appropriate seat. – Yours, etc,
KIERAN BAKER,

Sir, – Although being moved from a seat that someone else has booked must be tedious, it does not match the experience of booking a seat and finding an oaf or lout who will simply not give up the seat. Appeals to rail staff are met with a helpless shrug. – Yours, etc,
CATHERINE MURPHY,
Waterford.
