Sir, – Living in tropical Magherafelt, the past few weeks of weather have caused problems with car tyre pressures. A week ago, a significant red warning light appeared on the dash of my aging vehicle and, with my ever dependable friend and mechanic away on holiday, I found it necessary to avail of the self-service air pump at my local Centra.
For the princely sum of 20 pence, this wonderful gadget removed the red light and my anxiety in two minutes flat!
The red light returned today.
I made my way to Centra, only to find that the cost of the service had risen from 20pence to 50 pence.
