Dumping a TV

Sir, - Why is it made so impossibly difficult to keep our country tidy, when there is a certain amount of publicity to do so?

I have an elderly neighbour's defunct television set to dispose of. The bin men will not take it. The excellent Navan recycling centre will not take it. Even the TV shops do not know where I can take it!

Surely the Government should have foreseen the problem (a lot of us have had TVs for 30-odd years). Is it not obvious there has to be somewhere for the dead sets, other than a ditch or bog? - Yours, etc.,
