Sir, – If you discount the caretaker and interim managers, the appropriately named Erik ten Hag will be the tenth manager of Manchester United since the second coming of the great Matt Busby. A good omen, or a grim harbinger? Hopefully, the former will be the case, and his tenure at the club will be a long and successful one; but should his stay at Old Trafford turn out to be an ephemeral one, will Erik X be succeeded by Pep XI?
