Flooding risk has not gone away

A chara, – The sandbags are gone but the cuckoo is here, the swallows are breeding in rafters, and the Galway Races are only around the corner. Still not a sign of a shovel, a politician, a piece of machinery or anyone from the Office of Public Works to indicate that the Dunkellin river is going to be dredged before the winter sets in. Promises, promises. – Yours, etc,

ANNE MARIE KENNEDY,

Craughwell, Co Galway.
