Sir, – Jen Hogan's thoughtful article gave voice to young people's views on lowering the voting age (Weekend Review, April 30th).
The article was prompted by the publication of the Children’s Rights Alliance (CRA) “youth-led” report calling for the voting age to be lowered to 16 for local and European elections.
Jen Hogan interviewed 10 young people who, on the whole, appear to believe the voting age should not be lowered.
The CRA’s report methodology states that it interviewed seven young people for their report. Not 70 or 700 but seven.

This seems like an inadequate number of participants on which to base a recommendation that would have a profound impact on the size of the electorate. – Yours, etc,
