Sir, – Unfortunately for Paddy McGarvey's suggestion of moving the Seanad to the old Stormont senate building in Belfast (July 19th), Article 15.3 of the Constitution requires the Houses of the Oireachtas to meet in or near the city of Dublin.
I also suggest a move north but only as far as Senator David Norris’s drawing room in North Great Georges Street. As the Father of the House, and one of the main reasons most of us voted to retain the Seanad, his would be an appropriate home for such an august body to meet.
Overcrowded sessions, if such were imaginable, could be accommodated either in the Ambassador and Rotunda nearby or in the old House of Lords on College Green. – Yours, etc,
