Squeaking through

A chara, – Watching the RTÉ news channel, I was bemused to read a headline informing viewers that it was “squeaky bum time” for contestants in a forthcoming edition of Celebrity Come Dancing, as one contestant was due to be eliminated.

I would have thought such an expression should have been the preserve of some of the more downmarket tabloids, rather than being borrowed by the national broadcaster. Maybe I’m just old fashioned. – Is mise,
