The true sense of community

Sir, – Una Mullally makes some pertinent points but instead of "reconsidering the values that underscore policy" ("Pandemic burnout numbs return to 'real life'", Opinion & Analysis, August 16th), it may be better to consider in the first instance what are the values of society we desire in Ireland. If the pandemic taught us anything, then looking out for one's neighbours, care of the vulnerable and elderly (though not one and the same), as well as the protection of our fragile ecosystem must at least share the same priority as a financial and economic "recovery".

Could we perhaps reconsider the true sense of community, in the sense that we are all in this together? – Yours, etc,
