Sir, – As a person that reads your letters page regularly, I was surprised to see one published on the subject of sex education (February 6th) referring to "a decisive factor in determining whether one enjoys eternal bliss in the afterlife or the separation from God known as Hell".
I recall once back at school in the 1940s one of my Christian Brother teachers inviting me to touch the flame on a Bunsen burner to imagine the pain of Hell.
But I thought all this rubbish had been abandoned and “Hell” as a place of punishment had been abolished. Has it, or do some of us still believe in this nonsense? – Yours, etc,
