The Spring/Summer 2015 Home Collection catalogue has just landed in Harvey Norman stores nationwide. Photographed in the Chocolate Factory in Dublin, the catalogue features 14 different furniture and bedding looks, almost 60 different room settings and hundreds of products across furniture, bedding and accessories.
We caught up with Rachel McCann, lead designer at Harvey Norman, to talk about the new Home Collection and find out why it's so different. "This season is all about colour, colour and more colour. From the garden to the bedroom, bright colours always put a smile on your face. For this catalogue I've tried to keep the furniture neutral and added splashes of colour (and some madness) through the use of accessories. The tropical trend is huge this season and to capture some of that we've gone for quite quirky colourful accessories like pink flamingos and parrots in a couple of the room settings."
On trending colours this season, Ms McCann added; "this summer is all about the mad multicolours like yellows, fuchsia pink, tangerine orange and cobalt blue. You'll see a lot of strong vivid colour running through the catalogue."
So what about new home furnishings, for those planning a total revamp? Leather is bigger than ever, with a number of exquisite genuine leather sofas getting pride of place in the catalogue (including the front cover). In the bedroom luxurious upholstered bed frames are the name of the game, with their solid wood counterparts taking on a chunky, rustic look.

As for accessories, Harvey Norman now stock an array of gifting and accessory brands such as Joseph Joseph, Happy Jackson, Orla Kiely, Hampton & Brown, Voyage Maison, Barton & Byrne and Mollypops, to name a few. The must-have accessory according to McCann, however, is clocks. “Clocks have never been so popular and they’re much more than just functional items. A big clock is a great way to make a statement, or better yet add loads of clocks in all shapes, sizes and styles.”
The interior inspiration doesn't stop in the pages of the catalogue. Many of the looks are replicated in Harvey Norman stores nationwide, so you can see, touch, and try them out for yourself. Starting this season Harvey Norman Carrickmines will also offer an interior design service, drop in store to book your free consultation.
