St Patrick's Athletic again demonstrated their superiority over Cork City when they won the super cup semi-final with two goals from Trevor Molloy at Turners Cross last night.
St Patrick's who pipped Cork for the league title last season when they beat them three times in the championship always carried more threat upfront and their ability to take their chances gave them an edge once again.
Cork had more of the play but were unable to break down a confident St Patrick's defence as the champions played with great assurance and authority.
Molloy struck after 18 minutes when he took advantage of a wonderful pass from Martin Russell. His second came from a disputed penalty decision after 76 minutes.
