Donegal and Mayo kept apart in All-Ireland qualifiers

Donegal face a tricky trip to play Meath in Round 3A of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.

Rory Gallagher’s side have however avoided Mayo - who will travel to play Clare.

Stephen Rochford’s Mayo progressed to Round 3A thanks to an extra-time win over Derry in Castlebar on Saturday evening.

The westerners are 10/1 fourth-favourites to lift Sam Maguire, however they were taken to the wire and required a late Conor Loftus screamer to keep their championship hopes alive.

And they have been handed a difficult assignment in Clare, against a side beaten 1-18 to 1-12 by Munster champions - and the biggest challengers to Dublin’s All-Ireland throne - Kerry.

Donegal meanwhile hardly inspired confidence as they trudged to a 0-12 to 0-7 win over Longford, after they were swept aside by rivals Tyrone in the Ulster SFC semi-finals.

They will play Meath in Round 3A, after they edged out Sligo 0-14 to 1-9 on Saturday night.

Both ties will take place on Saturday July 8th.
