Nemo Rangers ease past Legion into Munster final

The Cork champions took the lead with the wind in the first half, and never let it go

Nemo Rangers made light of the treacherous conditions to sweep past Killarney Legion and reach another Munster club football final at wind-swept Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday.

The Cork champions played with the very strong wind from the start and raced into a 0-5 to 0-2 lead after the opening quarter with defenders Alan O'Donovan and Alan Cronin joining recognised marksmen Luke Connolly and Paul Connolly on the score-sheet.

Nemo could only add two more points but still lead at half-time 0-7 to 0-2.

The visitors managed to reduce the margin to 0-8 to 0-4 by the 37th minute before Nemo’s greater experience and team-work took over agaub as Legion’s ill-discipline allowed Barry O’Driscoll convert crucial frees.

The game was over as a contest when wing-back Kevin Fulignati surged forward to land Nemo’s 13th point to lead by eight after 49 minutes.

Legion battled to the final whistle, scoring three points in quick succession before Nemo substitute Shane Martin grabbed the closing score in injury time.
