Irish teenager Olivia Mehaffey claimed the biggest win of her career when she lifted the Scottish Open Amateur strokeplay championship at Royal Troon in Ayrshire.
The win came just six days after the Royal County Down player completed a hat-trick of triumphs in the Irish Girls Open Championship.
Mehaffey, who will follow in the footsteps of Graeme McDowell and Stephanie Meadow when she enrols at Arizona State Unversity next year, claimed a one-stroke victory over France’s Anais Meyssonnier on a wild and windy course.
“The last six holes were brutal,”said Mehaffey. “But I am delighted. This is my first women’s international event so it’s definitely the best thing I have won so far.”
