Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth paired together in Players Championship

Match Play winner Rory McIlroy and Masters champion Jordan Spieth are in the same group for the opening two rounds of the Players Championship at Sawgrass.

The World Number One and Two will be joined by seventh-ranked Jason Day on Thursday and Friday, teeing off for the opening round on Thursday at 1:39pm BST.

It’ll be a chance for McIlroy to get one over on the young American who denied him a career grand slam with his victory at Augusta National last month.

Also paired together are Padraig Harrington and Graeme McDowell and they're joined by Ryan Palmer with the trio teeing off at 12.46pm BST on the Thursday.

Tiger Woods will compete for the first time since his promising performance at the Masters hoping to win the title he last claimed two years ago. He plays with defending champion Martin Kaymer and Adam Scott.
