Shane Lowry moves up to 47th in the official world rankings

Ireland's Shane Lowry has moved up to 47th in the updated official World Golf Rankings, all-but securing a Masters Tournament debut for the Irish man next April.

In need of a top 13 finish in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai last week in order to move into the top 50 in the rankings, a solo fifth-place finish thanks to some well due luck on the final hole has now raised him five places to 47th.

Having shared the lead with Rory McIlroy after day one, some mixed form in his second and third rounds saw him fall out of contention, nonetheless coming away with a €379,318 payday.

While Lowry bypasses the American pair of Kevin Streelman and Brandt Snedeker who both fall back a place-a-piece within the top 50, there’s no movement from either world number one Rory McIlroy or Graeme McDowell at 15th.

Moving up to second after successfully defending a title for the first time in his career in Dubai, Sweden's Henrik Stenson has moved past Adam Scott and Bubba Watson.
