‘I’m going to try and put an end to it right here and right now,’ says Norwegian ahead of Evian Championship

Norway's Suzann Pettersen will hope to take a leaf out of Rory McIlroy's book as she defends her Evian Championship title this week.

McIlroy’s habit of following good opening rounds with bad ones on Fridays made headlines earlier this season, until the 25-year-old won the Open Championship, WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and US PGA Championship in consecutive appearances.

Pettersen’s problems have come on Sundays rather than Fridays, with the 14-time LPGA winner recording five top-10 finishes in her last six starts, but failing to close out tournaments.

Pettersen also shot a closing 75 to finish runner-up in the Ricoh Women's British Open and told a pre-tournament press conference: "Hopefully this is not going to continue. Hopefully this is something they can't keep asking me about. So I'm going to try and put an end to it right here and right now," she said.
