UCD held their nerve best to lift the Super Cup and the £8,000 winner's cheque at Tolka Park yesterday.
Ken Kilmurray was engulfed by teammates at the finish after slotting home the crucial sudden-death penalty. The unfortunate Eoin Mullen had hit Bohemians' final spot kick off the crossbar.
Mullen had restored UCD's lead at 2-1 when deflecting a Brian Mooney cross into his own net after 19 minutes.
It was the former Bohemians winger Mooney who opened the scoring on 11 minutes, finding the top corner from 25 yards after a mazy dribble past three defenders.
Bohemians equalised five minutes later when Maurice O'Driscoll got forward to tap home David Kelly's cross. Bohemians deservedly levelled again on the hour when Dean Brennan connected with Glen Crowe's pull-back.
