RACING:LOCAL TRAINER Eric McNamara recorded back-to-back wins in the featured Tim Duggan Memorial Handicap Chase at Limerick yesterday, winning this year with Questions Answered.

A welcome winner for Shane Jackson, the son of Old Vic had to battle hard to see off the challenge of Carrigmartin on the run-in.

Afterwards McNamara, whose Larkwing won the race last year, said: “The step up to three miles should see an even better horse again and hopefully there’ll be another big day in him.”

Jackson, who was partnering just his second winner of the season, was having his first ride for McNamara.

Willie Mullins’ Sweet My Lord, part-owned by RTÉ’s Colm Murray, justified long odds-on to win the Irish Independent Hurdle.

The son of Johann Quatz, under the trainer’s nephew Emmet Mullins, jumped well throughout and eventually ran out an easy two-and-a-half-length winner over Wilde Wit Pleasure.

Afterwards Gary Davies, representing trainer Mullins, said: “Emmet gave him a good positive ride and he jumped great. Willie will decide plans and it’s a brilliant win for his part-owner Colm Murray who hasn’t been well.”

Trainer John Joe Walsh and jockey Eddie Power experienced a welcome change of luck, winning the Cornstore Handicap Hurdle with Media Baron. The pair were unlucky losers on Wednesday with Stony Grey Soil running out through the wing at the final flight with the race at his mercy. However, Media Baron had a length and three-quarters to spare over over Guestofthenation.

“Media Baron is a well-bred horse and is a half-brother to a Group One winner. He won on the Flat in France but has had his training problems,” said Walsh.
