NEWS ROUND-UP: OFFALY OFFICIALS will consider their options this weekend in the wake of Gerry Cooney's resignation as manager of the county's footballers. It is hoped that some progress can be reported to Monday night's county executive meeting.

Cooney stepped down on Thursday night after a meeting with the players at the end of very poor league campaign, which culminated in relegation to Division Four.

It is understood that no specific individuals are under consideration and the appointment may have to be a temporary one in order to prepare for the championship match against Kildare on 17th June. The players are however expected to train over the weekend.
