Taylor set for debut fight in Limerick

The Olympic gold medalist faces a French boxer ahead of the World Championships

Katie Taylor will take part in her first bout in Limerick ahead of this year's World Championships in South Korea.

The 28-year-old, who last competed in the Bucharest European Championships earlier this year, where she won the gold medal for the sixth successive time, will face French lightweight, Oshin Derieuw in the UL Arena on Sunday October 12th 2014.

The World Championships begin on November 13th, where the Olympic Gold medallist will be seeking her fifth successive World Title, having won all of the championships since her first win in New Delhi in 2006.

While Derieuw is now boxing under the French flag, she won a European Union Championship bronze medal in 2011 for Belgium in the heavier 64kg division. Although ranked outside the world top 20, she is the holder of five Belgian titles.
