IRFU secure six-year kit deal with Canterbury

The Irish Rugby Football Union have signed a six-year multi-million euro deal with clothing brand Canterbury to become its official supplier.

Canterbury will take over from Puma from September 1st, with the senior side wearing the new playing shirt for the first time in the November international against South Africa in Dublin.

Puma announced last January that they were to cut short their eight-year €40 million agreement with the IRFU midway through the deal as part of a global exit strategy from the rugby market.

Canterbury have previously been kit supplier to the IRFU and the new deal will cover two World Cups in the time period up to 2020.

The deal covers all match day, training and bench wear for the national squad as well as all junior and underage teams and women’s national side.

Welcoming the new deal, Ireland coach Joe Schmidt said: "I'm delighted to have Canterbury partnering with Ireland in our upcoming World Cup cycle. I've worked with Canterbury in the past and have always been impressed by the quality and innovation they bring to the table."
