RWC 2015: The weekend’s best five tries

The Rugby World Cup is in full swing and with all sides having played two games - apart from Tonga and Namibia, who play a second time on Tuesday - the four pools are starting to take shape.

While it’s too early to determine if this World Cup will be remembered as one of the greats, there is no doubting it has already provided some moments for the ages.

Take Japan’s stunning 34-32 win over South Africa at Kingsholm, a result so staggering and thrilling it is already talked of as one of the biggest upsets in sporting, and not just rugby, history.

Then there was Wales, or more pertinently what was left of Wales, marching on fortress Twickenham and turning over tournament hosts England.

So far there have been 110 tries scored in the tournament’s 19 games. Top of the try charts are Australia, who have ran in 14 scores - 11 of those coming in the 65-3 rout of Uruguay at Villa Park.

And just behind the Wallabies are Ireland, with the opening pool games against Canada and Romania yielding 13 tries and two bonus point wins.

From a considerable pool of choice World Rugby have selected their best five tries of last weekend, including gareth Davies’ brilliant effort against England and Rob Kearney’s try at Wembley on Sunday.
