John Terry wants to wrap up Premier League title in a hurry

Chelsea captain John Terry is adamant that there is still work to be done if they are to clinch the Premier League title.

Jose Mourinho’s side moved 10 points clear at the top of the table after Eden Hazard’s goal was enough to beat Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, meaning they require two wins from their last six matches to claim the league.

But when asked if the title was already in the bag, the Blues skipper was steadfast.

“No, I don’t think so,” he told Sky Sports 1. “It was a massive win. We needed to win. It was a really tough game but we got the three points.

“They had the better possession. We have not been playing as well as we can of late and we done that today.

“I think we are doing enough, we have done all season. We were in our best form early on in the season and just before Christmas. We are still getting results and that’s the mark of champions.”

Next up are Arsenal followed by strugglers Leicester.

“We’d rather get it done as soon as possible,” he added. “It would be nice get it done soon, next two wins will be very nice.”

United had over 70 per cent possession but that stat meant little to Mourinho, who was asked whether he enjoys winning a tactical match such as the one at Stamford Bridge.

“I love it,” he said. “It (United’s possession) could be 99 per cent, that’s no problem, it’s about the points.

“We were very well prepared for them, we had a big heart, we fight and we were very focused on what we want.

“We need our points. Today we wanted three points and our opponent lost three points, but we are focused on us.

“The game was the game we wanted. The only thing we couldn’t do was kill the game by scoring a second goal. We know they make the pitch big, they pass the ball very well.”

United boss Louis Van Gaal may have seen his side's six-match winning streak come to an end, but the Dutchman was more than happy with their performance.

“It is the best I have seen of my team this season,” he said. “I’m very disappointed with the result.

“We have created. In the second half we created eight (chances) and Chelsea three, that is unbelievably good.

“We were the dominant team on the pitch but we lost. In football, the result is everything.

“I have said to the boys that we make an improvement every week, a step forward, and that is the most important thing.

“Of course we are not the champions – I did not expect that, our goals were also lower.

“The main goal is that we are progressing as a team and we have done that today.

“We also need results in football. It is not always the best team that wins.”
