Soccer:Jeff Kenna has stepped down as manager of St Patrick's Athletic with immediate effect today, which means Maurice O'Driscoll will step in to take charge against Galway United in tonight's League of Ireland Premier Division fixture.

The former Republic of Ireland international joined the Saints from Galway United at the start of the year, but the Dublin club has suffered a poor run in the league this season, and earlier in the week they were knocked out of the FAI Cup at the quarter-final stage by First Division side Waterford United.

“The manager of St Patrick’s Athletic, Jeff Kenna, has tendered his resignation to the board this morning,” the brief statement read on the club’s website. “The board has accepted his resignation, wish to acknowledge his contribution and thank him for his efforts.”
