Tell us about your experience of divorce in Ireland

How did you find the divorce legal process? What impact did it have on you emotionally, financially or on your children?

Our Legal Affairs Correspondent Mary Carolan spent a day inside Ireland’s divorce courts this week. She says the atmosphere was sad and sombre as divorce decrees were granted in marriages ranging from less than six months to more than 30 years.

We’d like to hear readers’ stories of getting divorced in Ireland.

Have you been through a divorce? How did you find the legal process? What impact did divorce have on you emotionally, financially and in your work or on your children? Were there tensions during the proceedings or was it amicable? Has the social attitude towards divorce changed? Were you surprised by the legal costs of the procedure? How do you think the process could be improved?
