British broadcaster, author and liberal commentator James O’Brien is best known for the exasperated monologues and heated debates that feature on his daily LBC radio call-in show.

In his recent book How They Broke Britain, he describes the institutions of the Conservative Party, right-wing think-tanks and right-wing media as an “ecosystem in which really appalling stuff can happen”.

On this week’s Inside Politics podcast he talks to Hugh Linehan about the key individuals - Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, Rupert Murdoch - who he says sit at the top of this system and why he has new hope for the future of UK politics.
