INSILCO Teoranta, a subsidiary of US multi-national Insilco Technologies, will create an additional 120 jobs at its cable harness manufacturing facility in Galway which will double the workforce before the end of next year.

Insilco, which took over an existing cable harness operation last year, originally intended to hire up to 300 people within four years but has brought these plans forward following strong sales figures in its first year of operation.

The core business of Insilco Teoranta is in the manufacture of cable harness and electro-mechanical assemblies. It is an international sub-supply partner to the medical electronics, telecommunications, data communications and specialised automotive industries. Eighty per cent of product is exported to Europe and the US.

Insilco Technologies reported 29 per cent sales growth in the third quarter of 1999 of $58.9 million, this compares to $45.8 million in the third quarter of 1998. Insilco has a second Irish operation in Larne, Co Antrim.
