Profit at London-listed DCC came in in line with expectations for the third quarter, the group said, as it progressed its new strategy to concentrate on the core energy business.

The Dublin-based group put in a robust performance over the three-month period, it said in a statement, with the energy and mobility businesses performing well. The healthcare unit performed in line with expectations, it added.

DCC Energy showed operating profit growth over the quarter, the group said, with Energy Solutions boosted by the performance of Continental Europe.

However, weaker demand for consumer technology over the holiday season in the UK and Europe led to a decline in operating profit in DCC Technology.

The conglomerate currently sells everything from catheters to hospitals to audiovisual equipment to events companies. In November, it announced plans to narrow that scope, with the healthcare division set to be sold off this year as it focuses on its energy business. The latter presents the largest growth opportunity for the group. DCC also said it has a good pipeline of acquisition opportunities in the energy business.

Looking ahead, DCC said it expects good group operating profit growth for the year, and significant strategic progress. It is set to announce its results for the year in May.
