Global networking company, 3Com Corporation, which employs more than 1,000 people in Ireland, has launched its new ISDN routers. A large part of the OfficeConnect Remote 5x1 series is manufactured at 3Com's plant in Blanchardstown, Dublin.

The series provides connectivity between local area networks and also meets the needs of companies requiring external services such as Internet access. The products are designed to provide ease of use, and sophisticated management, cost control and protocol handling capabilities for companies of all sizes.

3Com's Irish plant has also been granted the contract for the installation of a new network for F.G. Wilson, the Larne-based diesel generator manufacturer which employs more than 1,400 people in Northern Ireland. 3Com Ireland won the deal from a final shortlist which included Cabletron and Digital.
