Stalwarts of the old economy are set to make a triumphant return to the FTSE-100 Index next week as the backlash against technology newcomers continues, it emerged yesterday.

The Footsie is due to carry out its quarterly review of the index next week and a host of "new economy" companies are likely to tumble out. It seems likely that Baltimore Technologies will fail to survive more than one quarter in the index for the second time.
