Two Belgian schools have signed up to a scheme to distribute a low-strength beer to pupils.

Honest. The programme was mooted by a Flemish beer lovers' club, whose members believe beer is better for the young than sugar-based fizzy drinks.

Um. The motivation may be noble but it's hard to see the craze catching on here. After all, over-worked teachers would hardly disperse beer without making a pay claim first.
