Mr Terry Calvani has been appointed to the Competition Authority. Mr Calvani is currently a partner in US law firm Pillsbury Winthrop specialising in competition matters. He served as a commissioner on the United States Federal Trade Commission from 1983 to 1990 and was acting chairman for a period in 1985- 86.
He has lectured in antitrust law at the Harvard Law School for a number of years and has held a number of other academic positions. Mr Calvani will take up his post on May 20th.
