Religious Property:  Many of Dublin's leading developers are expected to pitch for Hatch Hall, a university residence run by the Jesuit order for the past 90 years, which is due to be offered for sale after the summer holidays.

The building has a floor area of about 2,787 sq m (30,000 sq ft) and fronts on to a garden and courtyard off Hatch Street. The entrance is through large wrought iron gates under an archway.

The Jesuits have invited a number of Dublin estate agents to make recommendations on the selling of the hall and in due course, one of these firms will be appointed to handle the sale.

The property, which is listed for preservation, could make in excess of €10 million if the planners allow internal structural changes to enable the building to be used either as offices or a small hotel. It is presently laid out as 80 single and double bedrooms but as none of the bedrooms have en suites, it would require substantial changes to convert it into a hotel. However, the prime location in the city centre should ensure that there will be strong interest from the hotel sector. Other facilities include a chapel, games room, concert hall, reading roomn, dining hall, music roof, offices, kitchens and staff quarters.
