Dublin Chamber of Commerce has called on the Minister for Finance, Mr McCreevy, to ensure the €22 billion traffic management plan for Dublin is completed.

Speaking at the launch of the chamber's latest strategy document, From Strategy to Implementation, A Blueprint for the Development of Dublin's Transport System, Mr Maurice Pratt said the Budget must press ahead with key transport initiatives.

Mr Pratt, chamber's transport committee chairman, said the key issues were the completion of the Port Tunnel, the Metro link to the airport and completion of the M50 motorway.

The M50 completion should include capacity enhancements and junction improvements.

Mr Pratt said the Government must prioritise these projects to ensure they were adequately funded, particularly in the light of a tight budgetary strategy.

The chamber's policy was, he said, essentially in full support of the Dublin Transportation Office strategy A Platform for Change, which envisaged a significant shift from car to public transport.

The chamber's plan includes measures to reduce the number of cars coming into the city.
