It's a busy week in corporate Ireland and for none more so than troubled pharmaceutical group Elan. The former ISEQ heavyweight produces figures it hopes will persuade the market that all its linen is now being washed in public and that investors have nothing more to fear.
Elsewhere, AIB reports interim figures, hoping to put the Allfirst fiasco behind it and show a strong underlying performance. There are also a number of shareholders' meetings to grab the attention. Jefferson Smurfit puts two resolutions to shareholders today which will, it hopes, clear the way for the success of the €3.7 billion Madison Dearborn bid for the company. On Tuesday Vodafoneholds its a.g.m. at which the major topic of conversation will be the salary package of chief executive Sir Chris Gent and whether the institutions will wear it.
On the economic front, the week sees unemployment and Exchequer figures at home on Friday and US GDP and unemployment data on Wednesday and Friday respectively.
