ESB International has won a new contract to help the Palestine Energy Authority (PEA) to develop electricity in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. The contract starts next month. The project is to strengthen the management and technical skills of the PEA, established by Palestinian Authority president, Mr Yasser Arafat.

The PEA is establishing an independent electricity service for Gaza and the West Bank to support the social and economic development of this area. Its electricity supplies have formerly been supplied by Israel. The project will be funded by bi lateral aid and will include a training programme for the PEA.
