Appian Asset Management is apparently limbering up for a big push for new business now that Ireland has found some wealth down the back of the couch. Appian was founded a decade ago by Patrick Lawless and Donal Roche, who has since moved to Covestone Asset Management.

Appian recently appointed a new chairman in Kieran McGowan, the former IDA Ireland chief executive. It has now picked Eugene Kieran, once of Irish Life Investment Managers, as its new head of investment strategy. Kieran is considered a bit of an "investment guru" by his peers.

I’m sure he’ll live up to the hype.
