JP Morgan appoints Irishman to co-head banking unit

JP Morgan has appointed Irishman Conor Hillery to co-head its investment banking unit in the UK.

JP Morgan’s investment banking business acts as corporate stockbroker to London-listed companies including groups such as BAT, Standard Chartered and Aviva.

Mr Hillery will take over the role, which he will hold jointly with former co-head of EMEA equity capital markets Ina De, from outgoing chief Laurence Hollingworth. Mr Hollingworth who is leaving his position to head up industry coverage for corporates in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Originally from Dublin, Mr Hillery was educated at UCD and trained as a chartered accountant with KPMG. He subsequently joined Kleinwort Benson in London, before moving to stockbrokers Cazenove in 2002.

JPMorgan bought Cazenove in 2010, and Mr Hillery acted as head of the financial institutions business in the UK for the new entity.
