Friends First has announced the addition of a new debilitating condition cover option to HomeProtector, its existing mortgage protection product.

The new debilitating condition cover is an alternative to the critical illness cover and the disability protection already offered through HomeProtector.

It offers mortgage protection by providing repayment cover for policyholders who suffer from an illness, which may not be critical, but prevents the insured from maintaining a normal lifestyle.

The option also offers cover for mental incapacity that results in serious impairment to social or occupational functioning and requires continuous care or treatment.
