The builders merchants and Atlantic DIY group, Heitons, is confident it will continue to expand in line with continued strong economic growth in the Irish economy this year. Speaking to shareholders at its annual general meeting in Dublin yesterday, the chairman, Mr Stephen O'Connor, said the outlook for the company remained very positive. "The greatly increased prosperity levels and underlying confidence will bring benefits to all our core businesses," he said.

The group has performed strongly in the current year. In the 12 months to the end of April, it reported a 25 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £8.6 million on sales of £140 million. Mr O'Connor said he believed the group's primary objectives - to achieve enhanced returns and greater returns for shareholders - would be delivered.
